The Wizard of Oz
By L. Frank Baum
Book Review by T.C
Have you ever wanted a book that you won’t lose interest in; well this is the perfect book for you. This is a fiction book and the suitable age range would be between 8-15.
The Wizard of Oz is my favourite book, it is about a girl named Dorothy and she lived with her Uncle Henry, he was a farmer. One day there was a huge cyclone and Dorothy got taken with the cyclone to another land. She got cast away before she even knew that she was away from her uncle. She got placed in an empty area she was so hungry that she found a tree and she saw some delicious fruit she gathered some of the fruit. Then Dorothy went to take a seat and there right in front of her were silver shoes that belonged to the witch of the east, she tried the shoes on. They fitted perfectly so she walked on. She walked towards Emerald city to ask the great Oz how to get back to her home town.
I believe that Dorothy did a great job trying to survive on her own should she be worried about taking the shoes or should she be more worried about the journey ahead of her. The Author did a great job of expressing people’s interest in fiction books.
What will happen next to Dorothy will the witch task her away or will they become the best of friends? What will Dorothy do about her family will she ever see them again?

Renegade Magic
By Stephanie Burgis
Book Review by T.J
“I have to warn you: I’m going to be practising magic. Scandalous magic.”
Have you ever seen magic? It’s the 19th century and Kat Stephenson is full of magic. Renegade magic is a great book, suitable for girls aged 10-13 who like a story full of magic and adventure.
Kat Stephenson has inherited her mother’s magical talents. After a devastating accusation shatters her sisters romance, their step mama takes them to the fashionable city of bath where stepmama orders Angeline to find a new fiancé.kat is tricked into losing her temper in front of the guardians she is expelled without a single magic lesson. Then she finds out that there is more to bath than she thinks...
It was a great book with the right of fantasy and reality. Stephanie Burgis (author) in making an unpredictable book
and because of so many twists I just couldn’t put it down.
An excellent book that adventurous girls ages 10-13 would love. Can Kat reunite Angeline with her true love and show she has what it takes to be a guardian.

Odd and the Frost Giant
By Neil Gaiman
Book Review by R.A.G
“The leaned is his cutch to keep his balance as the icy winds blew past him”
Have you ever hungered for adventure? To go into a land where things are always beautiful and Gods rule the land.
If so this book is for it is targeted for ages 8-14. It’s a book about a normal boy named Odd who lives with his mother because his Dad died in a sea raid trying to save a horse which fell overboard. He and some of the other Vikings survived but the next morning Odds Dad had passed away. Odd never stopped smiling he did not cry even when his Dad died; it made all the other villagers crazy. Odd Dad was a woodcarver he had a big axe which he used to cut down big trees so he could use the wood. One early morning Odd went into the forest with his Dads huge axe and went to cut down a tree. He found a ginormous tree which fell onto his leg and completely shattered all the bones. It was amazing he used the axe to dig his leg out from under the tree and managed to make a crutch for himself. After his Dad past away Odd again went out to the forest to find his Dads wood hut. It was a place where he would go and sit in front of the fire and just start to carve a piece of wood and after a while it would turn into art. On his way to the hut he saw a fox and it looked like the fox wanted him to follow so he did. After a while of going up and down hills he saw an eagle flying above him. He got to the bottom of the hill and he saw a bear trying to get some honey out of an old tree trunk but the bear got suck so Odd very carefully used his axe to open the log and the bear was free. Something “Odd” happened the bear did not attack him and looked like he did not want to hurt him at all. Turns out the bear, the fox and the eagle where actually Gods from Asgard! Odd needs to save Asgard by destroying the Frost Giant. This will mean the Bear, the Eagle and the Fox can go back to their original forms as humans. Asgard will be safe once again.
Will Odd save the Asgard and protect his world from being frozen for eternity and will the Gods of Asgard go back to human form so they can look after Asgard?!

Whatever After: Fairest of All
By Sarah Mlynowski
Book Review by F.R
‘Once upon a time my life was normal. Then the mirror in our basement ate us.’
Have you ever wanted to become part of a fairy tale? Whatever After: Fairest of All is a story suitable for young girls aged 7-12. It is based on the story of Snow White with an adventurous twist.
The story begins with Abby (aged 10) and her brother Jonah (aged 7) who are woken by their basement mirror hissing. Eventually the mirror begins sucking books and shelves and then Abby and Jonah. Soon they find themselves in
another world, the story of Snow White. Only to find out that they just stopped Snow from being poisoned so she can’t marry the Prince and may never get her happy ending.
I believe Sarah Mlynowski (the author) did a great job by trying to change the story of Snow White and making it interesting and unpredictable. It was an exciting story and I didn’t want to stop reading it.
What happens next? Will Snow ever get her fairytale ending? And what about Abby and Jonah, will they ever get home before it’s too late?
