Annear, Robyn
Rise up,
make a stand and fly the rebel flag. A daring story of the bravery and freedom
seeking of the diggers on the Victorian Goldfields. With emotional sentences,
challenging paragraphs and strong words, I consider this book to be for an age
of 13 and onwards.
‘Hey Joe. ’ (That’s the signal that means traps). ’Stay low, stay low.’ This novel written on the bravery of the diggers is a fantastic book indeed written by a successful author, Robyn Annear. Full of facts and interesting things, Robyn Annear has achieved the task of capturing the reader in the book and making them walk away with enthusiasm.
To arms, rally together and stand against the Traps, Troopers and soldiers.

Horrible
Histories: Barmy British Empire
Author: Terry Deary
Review by L.B.
Its history with the nasty bits left in.
We normally think of the British as well manerd and civilized but were they like that hundreds of years ago? Of cause not, and this book tells you why.
This book tells you how the British Empire started and answers the questions like how did they get so much money and power? What would it be like to be a lower class person? How cruel could there punishments be? Why did they have slaves for so long? Were they really like how they say they were? What were there rituals? How did they treat people who didn’t want to give them all the land? And how bloody were there battles? This book tells you everything about the history of the Barmy British Empire with the nasty bits left in!
This book is a good book although it gets boring if read too long at a time and unless you have a very good memory you will forget most of the facts in the book but it is an entertaining book that some actually manages to teach you something which is why it is a good book. .

Title:
Horrible History (Savage Stone Age)
Author: Terry Deary
Book review by: D.M
Age recommendation: This book is suitable for 10-15 year old as it some gory text and fairly large words.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like when technology wasn’t around? No electricity, no microwaves, No iPads, phones… For some of you it would be a struggle but others wouldn’t find it very hard. It’s all you need to know about how the people that lived before us and what their beliefs were. It includes what did they did to their dead, how to cure a headache and so much more horrible and strange things. Savage Stone Age is a part of the Horrible History’s series and is focused on events in history that are strange wacky and very weird. This is personally my favourite series because the language they use is great its super descriptive and very well written. I’ve definitely enjoyed leaning about the people before us and I’m sure you will to!
Here are some of the things the savage Stone Age talks about; how they hunted, what they hunted, Types of people, how intelligent we were etc.
If you love history and you love humour then this book would be the perfect book for you. It’s all a reader could want.

Jorgensen, Norman
All is quiet
on the Western Front, on a cold and bitter Christmas morning of WWI when a
brave allied solder goes out into no-mans land to save a beautiful robin. For
all ages near and far this picture book is for, reminding us of what it could
have been like then and there.
Snipers aim machine gun at the ready and all rifles point at the brave allied solder as he walks into no-man’s land to save the beautiful robin.
I love the poem, I love the book and I love the movie; In Flanders Field.
The great emotional heart-warming book from Norman Jorgensen waits to warm your heart with bravery and comfort.
