My Dad
By Anthony Browne
Book Reviewed by E.W
My Dad is an exciting book for any age group.
“He’s alright my Dad” A book for sons and daughters of all ages and especially for dads.
This is the best humour picture book in my opinion. I recommend this book for anyone. The author, Anthony Browne, is really impressive because of the detail he puts in the book. He has stories inside of the pictures of the book. Including one that shows the three little pigs, the big bad wolf and little red riding hood.
His work is incredibly colourful and creative. I love the book.
I’ve read two of his books and the best one in my opinion is “My Dad”. I think it works well when an author illustrates the book as well writing the book.

The Water Tower
By Gary Crew
Book Review By C.C.
This book was enjoyable to read because of the illustrations and how the book is set out.
The book is about two friends who on a scorching hot day decide to go for a swim in the water tower. When they get up there one of the friends is really scared and doesn’t go in. Then he calls out for his friend who is already inside the water tower and he gets no response and starts to get really worried about his friend. When he is just about to leave he realises that his clothes have blown away when he was too scared to go for a swim. Then he hears his friend call out from behind him. He tells his friend what’s happened, so his friend has to run to his house, sneak through the window and get some clothes for him. While his friend is gone he sees something on top of the water tower and then something happens but you don’t know what, so you’re left guessing. Then he returns to find his friend in the water tower swimming, but this is not like his friend to do this, he doesn’t ask but his friend is not the same and that’s where it ends.
I really enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone that likes weird, science fiction books

Flood
By Jackie French
Book Review by J.S
“The rain stopped, but the wall of water surged into the river. Hour by hour the river rose. In some places water only nibbled at the banks, but in others it burst across the river bends... up into the streets. It sounded like a helicopter. It sounded like a flood...”
An emotional, heart-warming fiction picture book telling a possible non-fiction situation from a dog’s point of view, for
all ages that enjoy a nice, quiet, relaxing book to read.
Separated from its loving family, the dog faces the terror of a flood on a floating scrap piece of metal. Will the much
loved dog see its family again and what challenges lay ahead?
Jackie French has done a fantastic job writing from a dog’s perspective of real life natural disasters in more tropical
areas. I think the moral is to be prepared and/or lend a hand for those in trouble times or maybe he is telling his past.
The rain stopped, but still the water rose up on to the streets, putting a lot of people in danger, it sounded like a flood… What would you do?

The Lost Thing
By Shawn Tan
Book Review by L.R
Have you ever seen something that doesn’t really belong...?
With crazy backgrounds and interesting illustrations, this book I’m sure is suitable for both boys and girls between the ages of 8-15. Some things just simply don’t fit in...
This story starts with a boy working on his bottle top collection, when out in the middle of nowhere he finds a thing just sitting there. Soon the boy starts an amazing journey to find out were the thing came from. If you want to hear
more you will have to read the book for yourself.
In my opinion Shawn Tan (Author) did an amazing job with this book in many different ways. In a way this book is a bit of a mystery. The illustrations were exiting to look at and the story was fun to read because they are so descriptive. This book shows that not many people care about lost things enough to look after them anymore. The lost thing, in my opinion, is what the future will be like. Nobody will care about lost things as the time passes. I loved this book and I’m sure you will too.
What happens next? Will the boy ever find a home for the thing or will it just follow him around? Enter a world of lost things and enjoy reading: The Lost Thing!

Wombat Stew
By Marcia Vaughan
Book review by H.B
When a very clever Dingo catches a nice fat, juicy wombat for lunch, Wombat has to rely on his friends.
Have you ever been put in a stew waiting to be devoured by a dingo? Wombat Stew is a stewy book for kids 5-11 years old if you fit this age range this book is for you.
It all starts on the banks of a billabong where a very clever dingo catches a very fat, juicy wombat to turn into a nice
stew. But Wombat has some really good and clever friends. Dingo has not even got the slightest clue to what Wombat’s friends are doing behind his back. Wombat’s friends are stewing up a plan. Who will win?
Marcia Vaughan (the author) wrote a great stewy book with lots of twists and turns along the way. Will Dingo get his stewy lunch? Or will Wombat's friends save him? Start reading, you’re in for a stewy surprise.

Bertie was a Watchdog
By Rick Walton
Book Review by K.C
Have you ever wondered what a watchdog looks like? ‘Bertie was a watchdog’ is a story suitable for children aged 6-12. It is also a humorous, fiction story.
‘Bertie was a watchdog’ is story about a watchdog who was very small. Even though he was small he still was a very brave dog and used his wits to outsmart a robber.
I believe that Rick Walton did a good job on writing ‘Bertie was a watchdog’. Rick Walton seems like a very humorous man because he wrote a book that is unpredictable and crazy for children. I rate this book an 8/10.
What will happen next? Will Bertie ever catch the wanted robber? And can he show that even though you might be small you can still do big things?
